How To Know If Your Dog Aggressive Or Not ?

How Can You Tell If Your Dog Is Showing Signs Of Aggression?

There are generally four types: threat, defensive, possessive and fear-based aggression.

Threat Aggression is when your dog will look like it is ready to attack. It may make eye-contact with you, stiffen its body, turn its head sideways and lift its lips up to show its teeth.

When this is about to happen you should back away so as not to trigger an attack.

Defensive aggression is when your dog feels threatened, such as if someone tries to grab it. The dog is likely to bite the person if they get too close.

Defensive aggression can be triggered by fear or pain. For example, if someone tries to touch a healing cut on your dog’s head then it may feel threatened and defensive towards that person. It’s best not to touch your dog when it has a cut or graze as their protective instincts will be heightened.

Possessive Aggression is when your dog gets angry or jealous if you pay attention to someone else. For example, if you’re paying attention to someone else and not your dog then your dog may become jealous and lash out.

You can prevent this from happening by making sure you give your dog enough attention. If your dog senses that there is a problem then it may become possessive of you. Let’s say your wife gets mad at you when you come home from work. You may find that your dog is acting more possessive of you and unwilling to let anyone touch you, this is probably because your dog senses your tension.

Fear-based aggression results from a natural fear of people or other animals. For example, if you approach a stray dog then it may bark and snarl at you.

These types of dogs are less predictable as they will attack anything that moves. It’s best to leave these dogs alone as they will probably attack anything that moves, including you.

How To Train Your Dog ?

Training your dog is an important part of being a dog owner. You need to teach it how to behave and what is and what isn’t acceptable. However, this isn’t as easy as it sounds. Like children, some dogs are easier to train than others.

You need to find the correct approach with your dog. Some of them respond better to reward, whilst others respond better to punishment. You need to spend time with your dog to figure out what works best for it.

It’s important that you remain calm and assertive whenever you train your dog. If you appear nervous or unsure about what you’re doing then your dog will pick up on this and it will have a negative effect on its behavior.

The fight against blindness in Labradors ?

Labradors are known for their loyalty and affection. They have been bred since ancient times. There are many stories about how they were created from wolves, but it was not proven scientifically yet. Dogs have always been loved by humans and there is no reason why this love should stop at dogs. If we keep loving them so much, then surely they will continue to show us the same kindness towards our pets as well!

There are various types of blindness in dogs. Some cases are hereditary, some are due to diseases or other causes, while others occur because of trauma. Blindness in dogs is very common and affects both males and females equally. The most common type of blindness in dogs is called “Inferior Retina” (IR). IR occurs when the retina becomes damaged during development, resulting in total loss of vision.

IR is the most common form of blindness in dogs. It affects all breeds of dogs, but Labrador retrievers are affected more than any other breed.

As you can see, the lens (the colored part) contains light sensitive cells which allow the eye to focus on objects. These cells are called photoreceptors . The photoreceptors are located in the retina. The light is focused through the lens, and onto the retina. The retina contains special cells that convert the light into electrochemical energy, which is then sent to the brain through neural transmitters.

The brain then interprets these electrical impulses as visual images. With this process, we are able to see images.

In an eye affected by inferior retinal, the photoreceptors do not develop properly. The growth of these cells is stunted, and they never grow to their full potential. As a result, the retina has patches of non-functioning tissue which are unable to convert light into electrochemical energy. This type of blindness occurs when the retina does not receive enough oxygen during development. The following image shows what happens to an eye with inferior retinal:

As you can see, the retina appears as white patches. These patches do not contain any photoreceptors. The rest of the retina is fully functional, but it cannot convert light into electrical impulses. The white patches appear fuzzy or out of focus when looking at images or objects. There are three types of inferior retinal: mild, moderate and severe.

The following image shows the differences between these types:

As the names imply, the mild form has only a few non-functional areas on the retina. The moderate form has non-functional areas covering approximately 50% of the retina. The severe form has these areas covering approximately 90% of the retina. In some cases, a dog’s retina may be partially damaged due to trauma or disease. This type of blindness is called “partial retinal dysplasia (PRD)”.

In these cases, the dog experiences a loss of vision in some parts of the eye, but not in others. There are three types of partial retinal dysplasia: focal, multifocal and diffuse. These types differ depending on where the damage to the retina is located.

However, in some cases the dog may not be born with any eye problems. In these cases, the dog develops blindness as they age. This is called “congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB)”.

Black Lab Puppies For Sale:

If you are looking to buy black lab puppies for sale then there are many places to find them but it is important to research properly first before buying one.

Should We Buy Dogs From A Breeder ?

The first option is to buy from a breeder. There are many professional breeders that have websites and advertise online. The advantage of buying from a breeder is that they will have done all the health tests possible on the parents of the puppies to ensure they are free from disease and deformities. They will also be able to tell you about the temperament of the parents and know their personalities well. They will also be able to tell you about the parents and provide lots of information on them.

The disadvantage is that professional breeder’s dogs cost a lot of money and depending on the breed, can cost up to a few thousand dollars. This may be out of most people’s price range, however if you want a pure bred lab than it may be your only option.

Can We Buy Dogs From Shelter ?

The next place you can look is your local shelter. Many people buy puppies from pet stores or breeders not realizing that there are already so many dogs that need homes and would be so much happier in them. There are also many misconceptions that shelter dogs are of inferior quality to those bought from breeders or pet stores. This is completely untrue! Many of the dogs in shelters are of the same high quality as those bought from breeders.

The only difference is that the breeders have picked the best specimens of each breed to be parents (however not all of them do). Siblings of these dogs might not have the characteristics that the breeder is looking for and are often given away or sold cheaply to shelters. It is also possible for people to buy a dog for lots of money and later find out that it just does not suit their lifestyle and so they abandon it at a shelter.

So before you buy a dog, why not see if there is one at your local shelter that matches your requirements and is the right temperament for you. You never know, you might end up getting a dog that is even better than one you would of gotten from a breeder. Shelters often have conditions set before giving out dogs to people to ensure they go to the right homes and are going to provide them with good homes. The shelters might also give you advice on things like training, care and what to look out for in a healthy dog.

Can We Buy Dogs From Friends and Family ?

Friends and family are another source of dogs. They may have friends or family who are moving away, have new babies that are taking up their time or are no longer able to look after their dogs and so they offer them to you for free. While this is another option, make sure you know the dog’s background and health before accepting it. If the dog has been well looked after and had all its shots, there is no harm in accepting it.

Can We Adoption Dogs From Any Where ?

There are also many shelters and breed specific rescues (Internet searches will help you) that advertise dogs that are up for adoption. These dogs are normally kept held in temporary cages at the shelter until they are adopted.

Can We Adopt Abandoned Dogs ?

Dogs can also be found by looking in areas that dogs like to frequent. These can include parks, schools, and even your own backyard! If you do choose to find a dog on your own, make sure the area is safe and there are no dangerous animals or people about. It is a good idea to carry some dog treats with you when looking and call the dog over. Toss the treat a short distance away and when the dog goes to get it, shower it with praise and give it another treat.

You will need to continue doing this until you can get close enough to put a leash on the dog and take it to a safer place.

What Things You Need After Buying A Dog ?

Once you have chosen your dog, you now need to prepare. You will need to gather all the supplies you will need in order to take care of the dog. These include:

  1. Food – You will need to decide what type of food you are going to buy. There are many types available in different grocery and pet stores. You will also need to buy a bag or two to keep at the house until you can get to the store.
  2. Water Dishes – You will need one or two large water dishes, depending on how many dogs you have. These can be picked up at the store for less than $2 each.
  3. Dog Crate – Although not completely necessary, a crate is extremely useful for containing your dog if you need to leave it alone at any time. A medium sized crate should be sufficient for most dogs.
  4. Leash and collar – Every dog needs a collar with ID and a leash to walk on. A simple plastic clip leash is the cheapest option available at any pet store.
  5. Bedding – Most dogs will sleep on the floor or your bed, but they may prefer their own bed to sleep on. Padded fabric beds can be bought at pet stores or online for less than $50.
  6. Name Tag – This is very useful not only if your dog happens to escape from home, but also if you have multiple dogs. It makes it easier to tell them apart and keeps others from temptation of stealing or abusing your dog. They can be picked up at the store or online for less than $5.
  7. Dog toys – Although not completely necessary, most dogs enjoy playing with toys. These can include a favorite toy from home or something new from the store.
  8. Dog Treats – Although not essential, most dogs appreciate receiving treats on special occasions or when they are good. After you have gathered all your supplies and chosen a dog to adopt, you are ready to bring him home.

The first thing you need to do is introduce yourself to the dog slowly and give it plenty of praise and love. Dogs can sense fear and if they sense any from you they are more likely to act aggressive towards you. It is a good idea to let the dog inspect your home as well since it will most likely prefer to sleep in its own bed, rather than a shelter cage.

The next step is to train the dog. Dogs, just like children, need training to understand what is acceptable and what is not. Without this discipline, they can quickly become out of control and even harmful to themselves and others. Training can be done using a variety of methods, however the best way is through repetition. Dogs, like humans, learn through repetition and once they understand what is required of them, they will obey.

What Training Method Should Use For Your Dogs?

Following are some training methods you can try:

  1. Rewards – The oldest and most effective method of dog training, using rewards when the dog obeys a command. This can include verbal praise, pats on the head, or a special treat.
  2. Corrections – Another very effective method, using physical force to make the dog obey. This can include grabbing their collar to make them sit, pushing their head down to make them lie down, and pulling their leash when they misbehave.
  3. Choke Chain – A great way of making your dog obey commands, through pain inflicted by the chain wrapped around their throat. It is very important to know how to use this properly or the dog can accidentally die.
  4. Hitting – Although frowned upon by most animal lovers, some people believe in using corporal punishment to discipline their dogs. This is very controversial and not likely to solve the problem at hand.

Once your dog has learned a few basic commands, it is time to introduce him to the outdoors. Most dogs will instinctively know what to do, however some may require help. Observe what the dog is doing, if he is trying to cover up his waste, he needs to be taken outside. It is a good idea to take them to the same place every time to help them learn where to go.

After the dog has eliminated, it is important to give them a reward. This can include more love and affection, or in some cases a treat. Although dogs do not always require a reward for obeying orders, most will still expect one on occasion.

If your dog is still having accidents in the house or is uncontrollable, you may need to seek professional help from a dog trainer. These people are experienced with all types of dogs and will be able to solve any behavior problems within a few sessions.

Taking care of a dog is an ongoing process that requires time, love, and dedication. Although it can be a lot of work, it is also a lot of fun. Dogs are a man’s best friend for a reason, they are incredibly fun to be around and always willing to play.

You did it! You are officially a dog owner, and your new friend is happy to be here. Now that you have gone through this process, you understand why people like having dogs so much. They are great companions and always willing to play.

Your dog will now live a happy life with you, and hopefully teach you the importance of being responsible with a pet. Thanks for reading!

Chocolate Lab Names: 100+ Unique Naming Ideas

One important task that many people forget when getting a dog is naming it. Sure, your dog will probably respond to several commands and words, but what is it actually going to be called? What will it be called when you talk to it or around other people?

Let’s explore some of the most popular options and ideas for naming your dog.

  • Colors: If you’ve chosen a chocolate lab, then the color brown or black is probably going to be associated with your dog no matter what you decide to name it. For that reason, it might make sense to pick out a name that is linked to a color that is different from the one that your dog is.

Some examples of this would be if you had a black lab and you wanted to name it something linked to the color orange. This could be something like Flame, Cinnamon, or Sunflower. If you had a chocolate lab, then you might go with Blue, Sapphire, or Turquoise.

  • Age : Another thing that you might want to take into consideration is the age of your dog. Is it going to be a puppy, a young dog, an adult, or a senior citizen? Each of these are going to require different types of care and handling, so it might make sense to pick out a name that reflects the age of your dog.

Some examples of names for younger dogs are: Fido, Pup, and Matey. Eamples of names for adult dogs are: Shep, Buddy, and Rex. Dogs names for older dogs are: McGee, Red, and Toby.

  • Nationality : Another thing that you might want to take into consideration is the nationality of your dog.
  • Is it from England? Maybe it’s an English Bulldog.
  • Is it from France? Perhaps it’s a French Poodle or a French Mastiff.
  • Is it from Mexico? Perhaps a Mexican Hairless Dog or a Mexican Wolf Dog might suit its demeanor better.

Sized: Another important thing that you might want to take into consideration is the size of your dog.  Is it going to be really big, really small, or about average? Each one of these sizes are going to require different types of care and handling, so it might make sense to pick out a name that reflects the size of your dog.

  • Names for giants dogs are: Gorilla, Mammoth, and Titan.
  • for smaller dogs are: Pipsqueak, Peewee, and Teensy.
  • Names for average sized dogs are: Bolt, Stubby, and Sparky.

Nursery Rhymes : Another source of inspiration when it comes to naming your dog could be nursery rhymes. After all, many popular dog names are actually taken from popular nursery rhymes. Just take a look at some of the most popular dog names and you’ll start to notice the trend.

A few popular nursery rhymes that you could draw inspiration from are: Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Hickory, Diky and Fanny, Three Little Kittens, Little Jack Horner, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and Old McDonald Had a Farm.

You could also take a more obscure approach and look up even more nursery rhymes. Just make sure that you do a quick search online to see if the name you like is already taken by another dog.

Fictional Characters: If you’re a big nerd, then you could also draw inspiration from popular characters in books, movies, and television. The sky is really the limit here as you can imagine. If you’ve ever seen or read about a character that you think is awesome and describes your dog well, then it might make sense to name it that.

Some examples of names based off of fictional characters are: Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Aragorn, Frodo Baggins, and Katniss Everdeen.

Random Words : Another source of inspiration that you might want to take into consideration is random words. This works well if you’re looking to get more creative with the name of your dog. You’ll need to use your own judgement here as to whether or not the name will fit your dog’s personality.

Some examples of random words that have resulted in the names of real dogs are: Bandit, Chaos, Flash, Goofball, Hunter, and Hulk.

Popular Dog Names : If you don’t feel like putting much effort into coming up with a name for your dog, then you could always go with one of the most popular pet names. These are some of the most common names for pets and they’ve been around for quite some time. As such, you’ll be able to find plenty of information online about these names.

Some examples of popular dog names are: Max, Buddy, Bailey, Duke, Lucy, Charlie, Molly, Oliver, Spot, and Lucky.

Pet Stores : This might be a rather unconventional approach, but if you’ve got an accessible pet store nearby, then you could always go over there and see what’s available. Most major pet stores sell puppies and dogs off from their own in-house “kennels” or “puppy mills”. As such, you might be able to find something that catches your eye over there.

Once you’ve got your list of names written down, you’ll need to narrow it down further to a short list of three to five names. This will make things much easier for you when it comes time to register or take your dog to the vet.

Is Training Your Dog Difficult Task ?

Just like with the process of getting your dog, there is no one correct way of training your dog. You can choose to go the old-fashioned route and use a firm hand and correct your dog when it does something wrong. You can also choose to be more modern and use a positive reinforcement approach instead. Both of these methods have their pros and cons, so choose whichever one you think will work best for you.

Regardless of the approach that you take, there are a few skills that you should at least have some knowledge about. The most important of these is being able to tell if your dog is sick or not via various symptoms that it may show.

Next, you’ll want to know how to take care of your dog’s dental health. Like people, dogs can develop cavities and other problems with their teeth. You can’t take them to a human dentist, but you can certainly take them to a veterinary dentist.

You’ll also want to familiarize yourself on what to do in an emergency if something should happen involving your dog. This could be as simple as it finds a friend and gets lost, or it could be something like your dog swallowing something it shouldn’t have. Be sure that you have the means to deal with these sorts of situations before they become an issue.

One of the most basic, yet still important things that you need to do is to make sure your dog has a good name. Once you have that sorted out, you should get them a collar and an ID tag in case they happen to wander off or get lost.

How To Deal With Your Dog ?

By this point, you should have a well-behaved dog that doesn’t cause too much trouble. However, even the best-behaved dog will sometimes get into a mischievous mood. These moments shouldn’t be ignored as they can teach a lesson about what is and isn’t acceptable.

If your dog gets into something that you don’t want it to, then you should firmly tell it “no” and show it what exactly it can’t have. If the dog understands what the problem is, then it will stop trying to do whatever it’s doing. If not, then you may need to move on to other methods of discipline.

If your dog does something truly bad, then you can punish it by scolding it, making it sit in a specific spot for a while, or even giving it a smack on the nose. It really just depends on the situation. Be sure to be consistent about whatever approach you take. If one smack on the nose means bad behavior, then it needs to stay that way. Don’t give a smack and then ignore the dog for the rest of the day, as it will learn that it can get your attention by getting into trouble.

What Are Common Dog Breeds ?

There are literally hundreds of dog breeds in the world. A lot of them are common, while others are quite rare. The choice is ultimately up to you, depending on your taste, but here are a few of the common ones that you may want to consider.

  • Rottweiler : Perhaps one of the most popular guard dog breeds, Rottweilers are naturally protective of their owners and make great pets for those that want a friend to play with and another to have it their back when trouble occurs. These dogs can grow to be quite large and may require extra food and veterinary visits, but their loyalty more than makes up for it.
  • Pitbull :Pitbulls have gotten a bad reputation in the news over the years, mostly due to irresponsible owners. These dogs are naturally protective over anything they see as their own, including their owners. If you want a dog that will love you unconditionally and always want to play, then this may not be the dog for you. Pitbulls can be quite large and require a lot of exercise, so be sure you can provide that for it.
  • Dalmatian :Often depicted in movies as firehouse dogs, Dalmatians are naturally drawn to watching over anything, including you. If you want a dog that will be your constant companion and watch your back, then this is the breed for you. They are very active dogs and will require a lot of running and activity, so make sure you have the time to spend with it.
  • Pug : Pugs are often depicted in movies and popular media as being cute and lazy dogs that sit around all day long. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as they are naturally very active and require a lot of exercise to stay healthy. If you want a dog that will love to run and play, then this is the breed for you. Always remember, however, that despite their lazy media depictions, these dogs require a lot of activity.
  • Finding a Dog : Once you’ve decided on a breed, the next step is actually finding one. If you want a purebred from a breeder, be prepared to pay a hefty price for it, as these dogs take a lot of time and effort to breed. Buying from a private owner may be cheaper, but the owner may have not taken the best care of the dog or have false advertised about the dog’s lineage.

There are many rescues and shelters that get dogs of all different breeds, so one option you have is to go that route. Be prepared to fill out an application and have the dog be quarantined for a period of time to ensure it isn’t carrying any diseases. If you want a particular breed but don’t want to pay for a purebred, this may be the route for you.

Regardless of which route you go, make sure to spend time with the dog before actually committing to adopting it. Make sure you’re comfortable with it and the dog feels comfortable around you. Never force a bonding, as this can cause severe issues down the road.

Once you’ve bonded with the dog, the next step is to make sure you’re actually allowed to have it where you live. Some apartment complexes don’t allow certain breeds, while other neighborhoods have outright bans against certain breeds. Research your area to make sure you can have the dog where you live.

How To Make Your Dogs Staying Safe And Healthy?

Whether you get a purebred or a mixed breed, there are some precautions that can be taken to ensure that your dog stays healthy and happy.

  1. Food and Water : Dogs are quite simple when it comes to eating. Most brands of food are equally nutritious, so go with whatever is cheapest. If you want to give your dog something a little extra, some carrots or potatoes can be given as a treat, but don’t overdo it. Most dogs will be able to get all the water they need from the food you give them, but in some cases extra water intake is needed. Make sure the dog has easy access to water, whether that means putting out a bowl or attaching a water hose to the dog’s dish.
  2. Exercise : This is where owning a dog can become a hassle. The larger and stronger the breed, the more exercise it’s going to need. Exercising a dog can be as simple as taking it on walks, but for larger breeds you may need to rent or borrow a bike jogger or an ATV. If you’re out of shape and have a large dog, you may want to consider getting an electric treadmill so you can still exercise the dog while not completely sucking all the fun out of it. As a last resort, hire a professional dog walker if you find yourself too busy and unable to give the dog the time it needs.
  3. Health : All dogs will get sick at some point in their lives. This is simply a fact that all owners must face. However, there are steps you can take to keep the dog as healthy as possible. First off, make sure it gets it’s shots. These are typically given at a veterinarian’s office, and must be kept up to date. If the dog hasn’t gotten its shots in a while and you find a flea on it, take it to a veterinarian immediately; otherwise it may get sick or even die from the various diseases fleas carry.

When going to a veterinarian, make sure you take the dog straight there if it’s injured. Don’t bother with a human hospital, as they won’t have the proper facilities to treat a dog. It also wouldn’t hurt to get pet insurance for when the worst happens and your pet gets injured or sick. There are several companies out there that offer such a thing, and while they aren’t cheap, they certainly are worth it when the animal needs thousands of dollars of treatment.

If you are someone who can’t afford pet insurance, then there is another solution, though it is one not spoken of out of fear of breaking the deal. If you truly love your dog, and it loves you, sometimes a personal payment to the veterinarian can be made… in flesh. By allowing the vet to use you as treatment, this takes care of the bill for your beloved pet. Once again this is NOT recommended. But, to each their own.

How  To Do Safe Dog Breeding ?

While most dogs should have at least one litter before they pass on, these days there aren’t many people who can afford the time and money needed to do so. Still, if you’re the sentimental type and would like your dog to experience motherhood before it dies, there are a few things you should be aware of.

The first thing you’ll need is a male dog, unless you want to find a female one that’s up for the task. The easiest way of course, would be to take your dog to a professional to have it serviced. While there are some kennels out their that will do this for a fee, you can also try checking with local veterinarians to see if they offer such a service as well.

The next thing you’ll need is a “stud”. While there are some people who will be willing to let you borrow their dog for this purpose, in most cases female dogs will not allow just any male to mate with them. As such, you’re going to have to find a stud yourself.

If your dog is from a major kennel or breeder, they will typically provide one for you at no charge. If not, you’re going to have to do some research and find one yourself. Call your local veterinarians and see if they know of one, or call the local kennels to see who they use or recommend.

When the stud arrives, keep him in a closed off area with your female until the deed is done, so as to prevent any unplanned pregnancies.

After the female has been serviced, you need to make sure she doesn’t run off with the stud and end up getting lost, or worse, getting hit by a car. So keep her on a leash when around him. Also, some bitches will get cranky during their heat cycles, so be warned that your female dog may not be pleasant to be around during this time.

Assuming everything goes well, in about nine weeks you should find a bunch of new puppies in your household. You may want to get a bigger house to accommodate them all, especially since they’re going to eat a lot, and they’re fairly loud.

In most cases female dogs should not be bred until they are at least two years old, since their bodies are not mature enough to handle carrying a litter before then.

While females should not be bred every year, some people do it anyway, which can lead to a number of health concerns for the mother. The most common issue is that the puppies can be too large for the mother to birth properly, which can lead to life-threatening situations for both the mother and the pups.

Another common issue is that the female’s milk supply may not be sufficient to feed the number of puppies she has, leading to the death of some or all of them as well.

Regardless of whether the litter is lost due to the mother dying in birth or from lack of nutrition, it is very likely that the mother will become extremely depressed after such an event. This can lead to a number of behavior problems, which are beyond the scope of this guide to list.

Finally, if you plan on keeping one of the pups, be sure to get it socialized from an early age. Also be sure to keep your new pet well-groomed, as these dogs are known to have a fair amount of shedding.
